As children read about the different Minnesotans featured in this book, we hope they will think about how culture and heritage are important in the life stories of these Minnesotans and are also important in their own stories. As their view of what it means to be a Minnesotan expands, we believe it will also increase their curiosity and understanding of our big, shared world.
Who We Are
Big Shared World began with one person, Colleen Waterston, but it was never meant to be a solitary endeavor. The supportive community surrounding Colleen has developed organically. From videographers to writers, from graphic designers to educators, some amazing people have come alongside her to offer their skills and collaborative efforts on Big Shared World projects.

The Journey
The Big Shared World Journey was centered around a very basic concept: Questions and Answers. The project began by asking simple but important questions of people from different cultural backgrounds. Those conversations and answers will be shared with a broader audience to encourage cultural curiosity, develop understanding, and build stronger bonds of community with those who share our world.
